REQUEST FOR EXEMPTION FROM APPENDIX R REQUIREMENTS UNITS 1 AND 2 SALEM NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION DOCKET NOS. 50-272 AND 50-311 The purpose of this letter is to request exemption from the 10CFR50 Appendix R requirement concerning protection with one hour fire barriers and automatic suppression systems.
By letter dated March 19, 1981, PSE&G requested four exemptions from AppendixR. A number of meetings were held between PSE&G and the NRC Staff from' July 1981 through November of 1981 with regard to PSE&G's requests for exemptions and as a result, the attached report details PSE&G's exemption request from Appendix R, paragraph III.G, for areas within the Auxiliary Building, elevation* 84'.
Specifically, these areas are:
