REQUEST FOR AMENDMENT FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE DPR-75 UNIT NO. 2 SALEM GENERATING STATION DOCKET NO. 50-311 Ref. LCR 81-18 In accordance with the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended and the regulations thereunder, we hereby transmit copies of our request for amendment of the Facility Operating License DPR-75 for Salem Generating Station, Unit No. 2.
This request consists of a proposed change to the Safety Tech-nical Specifications (Appendix A}.
The proposed change would remove the present limit of 90 hours0.00104 days <br />0.025 hours <br />1.488095e-4 weeks <br />3.4245e-5 months <br /> annually for use of the Pressure-Vacuum Relief portion of our Containment Ventilation System.
Since the following conditions exist:
- a. The use of the system is necessary for safety purposes.
- b. The radiological consequences of a LOCA while contain-ment venting is in progress will be within the guide lines of 10CFR Part 100.
and since required information pertaining to long term reliabil-ity/operability of the containment ventilation valves has been transmitted to the staff in our Mittl to Miraglia letter dated July 31, 1981, we request that we be permitted to establish our

9/23/81 own goal of two thousand hours annual use of the Pressure-Vacuum Relief portion of the Containment Ventilation System.
This change involves a single safety issue and therefore is de-termined to be a Class III amendment.
