IN-SERVICE INSPECTION PROGRAM REQUEST FOR RELIEF NO. 2 UNIT SALEM NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION DOCKET NO. 50-311 PSE&G requested relief from the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel, Code In-Service Inspection requirements for Salem Unit 1 (Docket No. 50-272) by letter, R. L. Mittl to S. A.

Varga, dated July 9, 1981.

The same relief is hereby re-quested, for Salem Unit 2.

Pursuant to the request of W. Ross, we are enclosing a check in the amount of $4,400 for Class I and Class III amendment reviews for Salem Units 1 and 2.

This payment, however, is being made under protest because it is our position that the requested relief does not come within the purview of 10 CFR 170.22.
