NPDES PERMIT CHANGES NOS. 1 AND 2 UNITS SALEM NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION DOCKET NOS. 50-272 AND 50-311 As required by Section 5.6.3.3 of Appendix B to Facility Operating License DPR-70 and Section 5.5.2 of Part II (Non-radiological) of Appendix B to Facility Ope~ating License DPR-75, you are hereby notified that, effective July 15, 1981, Region II, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency re-vised NPDES Permit NJ0005622 which applies to both Salem Units 1 and 2.

The main features of the permit revision are as follows:

1. Effluent limitations for corrosion inhibitor use at Salem Unit 2 have been added and bioassay testing of certain corrosion inhibitors has been required.
2. Circulating water thermal limitations applicable to once-through cooling have been extended to September 30, 1982.
3. Adherence to New Jersey water quality and sludge dis-posal requirements has been made a specific NPDES permit condition.
4. Sampling and analysis requirements have been made more specific and a laboratory quality assurance program has been required.
