CONTROL SYSTEM FAILURES NO. 2 UNIT SALEM NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION DOCKET NO. 50-311 As requested by your April 16, 1981 letter; PSE&G has re-viewed the Salem Unit No. 2 control systems, and would like to offer the following information:

The analyses required to adequately respond to this request for information comprise review of failures which affect major NSSS control systems.

Therefore, the scope of the analyses provided to you in our response to I&E Bulletin 79-27 has to be expanded to include process line failures.

It is our intent to confirm these analysis with our NSSS supplier.

The systems currently under review are:

1.

Steam Dump

2.

Road Control

3.

Pressurizer Level Control

4.

Pressurizer Pressure Control

5.

Steam Generator Level Control

6.

Feedwater Control These systems are being evaluated for the following conditions:

1.

Loss of any single instrument.

2.

Break of any single instrument line.

3.

Loss of power to all components powered from a single source.

How-ever, based upon available related information (response to I&E Bulletin 79-27, Attachment B), we feel confident that the analyses contained in the FSAR Chapter 14 bound the con-sequences of a single control system failure.
