- Cross-regional examination teams
- Creating a level annual examination schedule
- examination Schedule RIS
National Examination Schedule Goals
- To allow the NRC to more efficiently utilize its qualified examiners to meet the National initial license examination workload
- To ensure that the NRC regional offices, Technical Training Center, and HQ program offices have the necessary tools to effectively share resources
- To enhance regional consistency goals through utilization of cross-regional examination teams
Scheduling Processes and Tools
- Initial examination schedules developed through new RPS-Inspections module
- Examination development scheduled by sub-activities with corresponding resource assignments
- Reports developed to provide a national view of examinations scheduled across all four regions
- Developing additional reporting capabilities to identify available examiners to support incomplete examination teams
Cross-regional Examination Teams
- Potential exists for increased use of cross-regional examiners
- Cross-regional perspectives will continue to enhance consistent program implementation and help identify improvement opportunities
- NRC will utilize cross-regional resources in an effort to accommodate requested examination dates and emergent retake exams
Creating a Level Schedule
- Due to resource constraints, NRCs capacity for handling traditional peak examination periods will be limited
- Licensees should expect to hear more requests for flexibility in selecting examination dates
- Goal is to eliminate peak periods to ensure NRC can maximize efficiency within the initial examination schedule
- Developing individual examination schedule best practices to allow more flexibility
examination Schedule RIS
- 2018 RIS will ask for increased flexibility in examination dates
- Licensees should select an alternate examination date that is sufficiently removed from the primary date
- Fleet-wide and industry-wide coordination on examination dates is encouraged
- RIS replies drive operator licensing budget decisions in the out-years
- Retake examinations will be scheduled in RPS-Inspections module where availability exists
