20555 Attention:
Mr. Frank J. Miraglia, Chief Licensing Branch 3 Division of Licensing Gentlemen:
STATUS OF FIRE PROTECTION PROGRAM NO. 2 UNIT SALEM NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION DOCKET NO. 50-311 PSE&G's letter of March 19, 1981 indicated that the cable tray wrapping for fire protection on Salem 2 would be com-pleted by full power operation, pending resolution of pro-ductivity problems.
Subsequent to that letter we have been advised by 3M that, as a result of secondary material supply slowdown and inventory exhaustion, the original delivery date for all material could not be me~. This date was the basis for our original completion schedule.
3M has confirmed that the first delivery of 800 sheets of FS-195 will arrive no later than May 12, 1981 with an 800 sheet delivery every seven days thereafter.
As of April 23, 1981, all trays that can be wrapped with KAOWOOL will be completed, resulting in a 40% job completion factor.
The remaining trays are required to be wrapped with FS-195 and it is estimated they will be completed by June 15, 1981, subject to the vendor meeting his committed delivery sched-ule, as discussed herein, but in any event, they will be completed by full power operation.
Should you have any questions in this regard, do not hesi-tate to contact us.
Very truly yours, CC:
Mr. Leif Norrholm Q
