Dear Mr. Grier:
SUPPLEMENTAL RESPONSE NO. 2 TO NRC IE BULLETIN NO. 79-02 PIPE SUPPORT BASE PLATE DESIGNS USING CONCRETE EXPANSION ANCHOR BOLTS SALEM GENERATING STATION UNIT NOS. 1 AND 2 In addition to our responses dated July 6, 1979, _September 24, 1979 and October 5, 1979 on the subject bulletin, we are sub-mitting the following information for your review.
In a letter dated October 27, 1980 the Hilti. Corporation advised us that recent test results of their one inch diameter Hilti Kwik-bolt anchors, used in 4000 psi design strength concrete block, caused them to reduce the ultimate strength load from 27,500 lbs. to 23,441 lbs.
This change applies to embedmerit depths from six to ten inches.
In response to NRC Bulletin 79-02, our Company personnel, assisted by outside consultants, performed an analysis to determine the design tension and shear loads on the Hilti Bolts. used at Salem.
The.results of this analysis were incorporated into the Structural Steel Status List.

January 23, 1981 the values for the tension and shear loads, as stated on the Structural Steel Status List, were reviewed for all the affected Hilti Bolts that were used in Safety Related Systems at Unit Nos. 1 and 2.
In all cases the calculated loads are less than the maximum load specified by the Hilti Corporation.
Approximately thirty manhours were expended on this.supple-mental bul.letin' s review.
