TEST AND SCHEDULE INFORMATION ENVIRONMENTAL QUALIFICATION OF SAFETY RELATED EQUIPMENT NO. 1 AND 2 UNITS SALEM NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION DOCKET NOS. 50-272 AND 50-311 Your letter dated October 1, 1980 requested information re-lated to environmental qualification testing to be conducted within the next two years on equipmen~ used, or to be used, at Salem.

The following information is provided in response to that request.

Wyle Laboratories is presently conducting an extensive environmental qualification test program in Huntsville, Alabama on two types of pressure transmitters.

One is a Rosemount Model 1153, Series "D" and the other is a Foxboro Model N/ElO.

PSE&G is a member of the Owner's Group sponsoring this pro-gram.

The program itself is being directed by the Wisconsin Electric Power Company.

PSE&G is planning to use the Rose-mount transmitter in safety systems at Salem.

Attached is a copy of the current Phase I test schedule, which is related to IEEE Specification 323-1971.

Phase II, which is related to IEEE Specification 323-1974 (including aging) will commence upon completion of Phase I.

It is ex-pected that the testing will take approximately 18 months to complete.
