FIRE PROTECTION NO. 2 UNIT SALEM NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION DOCKET NO. 50-311 The NRC's fire protection rule and Appendix R were published in the Federal Register on November 19~ 1980.
This rule sets forth fire protection requirements for nuclear power plants licensed to operate prior to January 1, 1979 and be-comes effective on February 19, 1981.
In response to your request, PSE&G will implement in Salem 2 any modifications required for Salem 1 for the following three issues identified in Appendix R:

Fire Protection of Safe Shutdown Capability Emergency Lighting Oil Collection System for Reactor Coolant Pump Plans and schedules for implementation of any modifications.
will be provided in accordance with the requirements of Sec-tion 50.48(c}(5) of the rule.
