20555 Attentiong Mr. Frank J. Miraglia, Chief Licensing Branch 3 Division of Licensing Gentlemen:

EQUIPMENT QUALIFICATION NO. 2 UNIT SALEM NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION DOCKET NO. 50-311 PSE&G submitted its report on Equipment Qualification and Compliance with NUREG-0588 by letter dated August 25, 1980.

Subsequently, an audit was conducted by members of your staff on September 8 and 9, 1980 at PSE&G headquarters in Newark, New Jersey.

PSE&G will respond to the requirements specified during the audit by September 19, 1980.

The information to be sub-mitted will include a "classification of use by safety significance" of the items previously identified in our August 25, 1980 submittal, a tabulation of equipment by classification group, justification for interim use and a schedule for correction for the cases identified as possible problems, a discussion of the Quality Assurance activities pertinent to the review of NUREG-0588, and identification of exceptions to NUREG-0588 requirements.
