TOPICAL REPORTS WCAP-9226, 9730 AND 9236 RELATED *ro MAIN STEAM AND FEEDLINl:: BREAK ACCIDENTS Prompt respon!'c.es wil_l be provided to any NRC staff questions directed to PSS&G during the NRC's review of these Topical Reports.

In addition, PSE&G will support an audit analysis, if required by the NRC staff.

See SER Supplement 4, Sec-tion 15.1.1.

I. C. 7 NSSS *vr:NDOR REVIEW OF PROCEDURES Westinghouse has reviewed the Salem Emergency Operating Procedures and Power Ascension Test Procedures.

The results of this review are available at the Salem Station.

II.D.3 RELIEF AND SAFETY VALVE POSITION INDICATION Relief and sc.:.fety valve position indic1tion has been pro-vided as described in PSE&G letter, R. L. Mittl to o. D.

Parr, dated March 28, 1980.

This letter indicated that an improved limit switch capable of indicating open, closed and an intermediate position would be inst~lled by June 1, 1980.

The vendor 1 s delivery schedule for t.he improved switches has slipped, such that delivery is ncM anticipated in September, 1980.

The limit switches that are presently installed, however, are seismically and environmentally qualified and meet the NRC's requirements for providing positive indication of valve position in the Control Room.

III.D.3.4 CONTROL ROOM HABITABILITY Our analysis of Control Room habitability was provided in PSE&G letter, _R. L. Mittl to A. Schwencer, dated July 1, 1980.

We have reviewed the guidance provide~ in SRP Sec-tions 2.2.1, 2.2.2, 2.2.3 and 6.4 and Regulatory Guides 1.78 and 1.95 as part of the July 1, 1980 submittal.

We have concluded that the design of the Salem 2 Control Room is such as to c.ssure that operators in the Control Room will be adequately pcotccted against exposure to unacceptable levels of radiation during and after a design basis accident and unacceptilble levels of hazardous chc~icals released on or i~

the vicinity of the site.

On this busis, no design modifi-cations arc necessary.
