NRC IE BULLETIN 79-03A LONGITUDINAL WELD DEFECTS

- ASME SA-312, 300 SERIES SS WELDED PIPE NOS. 1 AND 2 UNITS SALEM GENERATING STATION In response to NRC Bulletin No.79-03A, Items 1 and 2, we submit the following:

In accordance with the requirements of Enclosure 1, Items 1 and 2 of Bulletin 79-03A, a survey was conducted of ASTM A-312, 300 series fusion welded pipe in safety-related systems.

The results of the survey indicate that no material of this type is in use where code requirements for pressure design exceed 85% of the maximum allowable stress at the design temperature.
