Miller TELEPHONE: 609-365-7000 X507 10CFRS0.59. SAFETY EVALUATION Design change to improve performance of valves. System is not safety-related and does not affect any safety-related systems. No analyses are affected by this change. Safety-related equipment is not affected. This DCR revises a setpoint so that the 6AR sysJ:em wi'll operate properly. It is not safety-related and does not affect any safety""'related.system or equipment. It does not require and Tech. Spec. change or any further safety analysis to be performed.. This design ~hange does not affect any presently performed safety analyses nor does it create any new safety hazards. The bases of the Technical Specifications are not::affected. Change involves addition of lighting fixtures. No safety function or safety margin will be affected by this work. No elements of an unreviewed safety question are present. This DCR makes use of existing test connections to install permanent local temperature gages. It is not safety-related and does not require a Tech. Spec. change or additional safety analysis. Installation of pip~ sleeve will not affect any previously performed structural safety analyses, will not affect the*:'safe operation of the plant and does not constitute an unreviewed safety question. This DCR covers the addition of recepticals in the Administration Building. This DCR will not affect any safety function of the system involved. There are no unreviewed safety questions. This change, involving coating a flange with bitumastic, does not meet the definition of an unreviewed safety question. New design (functional) has been removed and determined not to cr.eate new potential malfunctions or increase the probability of previously analyzed malfunctions or accidents. Not safety-related and does not affect any safety-related equipment. The new 6lean Facilities Building which includes the storeroom, clean machnine shop, Q.A. records area and locker facilities is a non-safety-related structure and does not alter any approved design criteria, procedures or setpoints. System is not safety-related and does not impact on any safety-related systems.

lED-0225 M9/0 lED-0307 COMPLETED BY: L. K. Miller TELEPHONE: 609-365-7000 X507 10CFRS 0. 5 9. SAFETY EVALUATION Neither the performance nor design criteria are being changed. There is no change in safety nor are criteria for an unreviewed safety question met. The addition of these two fire hydrants does not increase the probability of occurance or increase the consequences of an accident or malfunction of equipment impontant to safety previously evaluated in the safety analysis report and does not create the possibility for an accident or malfunciion of a different type that evaluaued previously in the safety analysis report. 1ED-0350A Minor revision to provide construction opening and temporary enclosure. Package 1 There is not unreviewed safety question involved. lEC-0373 The installation of this system does not affect any presently performed Package 12 safety analysis nor does it create any new hazards. The bases of the Tech. Specs. are not affected. lEC-0418 lEC-0429 lEC-0553 lEC-0658 lET-0682 lEC-0739 This design change does not affect any presently performed safety analysis as the system is utilized only under manual control of the Operations Dept. It does not create any new hazards as it is similar to other pipe systems. It does not affect the bases of the Tech. Specs. as the system is not addressed in the Tech. Specs. Coating interior of Fish Counting Pool will not affect any previously performed safety analysis and will not affect the safe operation of the plant. It does not constitute an unreviewed safety question. It involves only scale change and does not affect or change either the functional requirements or the Technical Specifications. Repair of the till CVC Hold-Up Tank per this DCR does not present an unreviewed safety question. This repair will return the vessel to code design roundness tolerances. No:~safety related-systems are affected. This test shows the effect and limit of an adjustment which can be made on the pump. This adjustment will help attain or maintain design per-formance. This is an adjustment which must be made each time a.:.1.pump is disassembled and reassembled. The 1R31 channel monitors radioactivity in the primary coolant. In the event of fuel failure, the activity in the coolant will rise. The current setpoint of the 1R31 channel is too low in that it will cause an alarm if the coolant activity is slightly higher that the expected equilibrium activity. The revised setpoint will be based upon the fuel leakage wh+/-ch 1 is permitted ]Jy Technical Specifications.

4/1 SALEM UNIT #1 OPEFATING

SUMMARY

APRIL 1980 thru Load stabilized at 100%. 4/2 4/3 At 1600 on 4/3/80, started load decrease at 7% per hour to 55% to thru work on 12 steam generator feed pump bearing. At 0326 on 4/4/80, 4/4 load was stabilized at 55%. Load remained at 55% for the rest of the day. 4/5 At 0406, load increase began at 5-7% per hour until load stabilized at 100% at 1900. Load remained at 100% for the rest of the day. 4/6 Load stabilized at 100% until at 2100 on 4/6/80, there was an thru inadvertent boration to the VCT which decreased power to 97%. 4/7 Load returned to 100% by 0600 on 4/7/80 and remained there for the rest of the day. 4/8 thru Load remained stabilized at 100% for this period. 4/9 4/10 Stabilized at 100% load until 1201. Load was decreased to 70% to thru 13 condensate pump motor bearing and to clean strainers. At 0100 4/11 on 4/11/80, started decreasing load until 0900 when load was 100%. Load remained at 100% for the rest of this period. 4/12 Stabilized at 100% load until 0735. At this point load was reduced to thru 53% to work on 12 steam generator feed pump oil seal. Remained at 53% 4/13 load until 0520 on 4/13/80 when started increasing load at 7% per hour. Load stabilized at 100% at 1500 and remained there for the rest of this period. Page 15 of 17

4/14 thru 4/16 4/17 thru 4/19 4/20 4/21 4/22 thru 4/23 4/23 thru 4/30 Load stabilized at 100% for this period. Stabilized at 100% until 1300 on 4/17/80 when a load reduction began because of problems found with the traveling screens. The problem was found and the load reduction stopped at 97%. Load was increased to 100% by 1500 on 4/17/80 and remained there for the rest of this period. Started load reduction at 0300 down to 70% at 8% per hour to clean condensate pump strainers. Load was increased back to 100% by 1400 and remained there for the rest of this period. Stabilized at 100% load until 1935 when a load reduction began down to 85% at 8% per hour because of problems with 11 heater drain pump. Remained at 85% load until 2100 on 4/22/80. Load was reduced to 70% to clean condensate pump strainers. Began load increase at 0300 on 4/23/80 until 100% load was reached at 1000. Load remained stabilized for the rest of this period. Load remained at 100% for this entire period. Page 16 of 17
