STATUS OF RECOMMENDATION: AUDIT OF NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSIONS BUDGET EXECUTION PROCESS (OIG-13-A-18)
The status of our responses to resolved recommendations are provided as requested in your July 20, 2017, memorandum titled Status of Recommendation: Audit of NRCs Budget Execution Process (OIG-13-A-18). The status of recommendation 3, remains resolved as indicated below.
Recommendation 3 Enforce the use of correct budget object codes (BOC).
Status: Ongoing Corrections to Identified BOC Exceptions: The Division of the Controller, Financial Reporting and Accounting Branch continues to work with the Office of Administration, Acquisition Management Division (AMD) to make the BOC corrections to obligation transactions in both Financial Accounting and Integrated Management Information System (FAIMIS) and the Strategic Acquisition System (STAQS). Corrections to obligation transactions in FAIMIS will be done using the Document Re-organization Notebook functionality. AMD staff are working with Compusearch, the developer of the commercial off-the-shelf software that runs STAQS, to develop a solution that will allow for the correction of the BOC code on obligation transactions in STAQS, which will then be coordinated to correct the BOC in FAIMIS. The estimated completion date for deploying the solution to STAQS production after testing is projected to be early August 2018.
