Light Water Reactors Branch 3 Division of Project Management MANAGEMENT FOR OPERATIONS NO. 2 UNIT SALEM NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION DOCKET NO. 50-311 PSE&G hereby submits the following information as a result of a meeting with representatives of your staff held on March 5, 6 and 7, 1980.
PSE&G will establish a Safety Review Group, independent of the station staff, but assigned on-site, to perform inde-pendent reviews of station operational activities.
The Safety Review Group will be composed of five persons; one supervisor and four additional persons with collective ex-pertise in the areas of nuclear engineering, heat transfer, mechanical engineering and instrumentation and controls.
It is our intent to have the supervisor of this group report off-site.
The group will be functioning by initial fuel loading.
The Emergency Plan Implementation Procedures Manual will be revised to reflect specific engineering and management sup-port and staffing requirements for adequately manning the Technical Support Center within two hours following declara-tion of an emergency.
It is our intent to make these re-vised procedures available prior to initial fuel loading.
A training program for off-site technical support personnel will be instituted by August, 1980.
Accident mitigation and recovery procedures will also be completed by August, 1980.
The Energy People
- 4/3/80 It is our intent to provide PSE&G's public information man-ager with two months of specialized training in the areas of nuclear plant systems and radiation technology.
It is ex-pected that this training will include, as a minimum, a PWR systems course and on-site training.
This training is ex-pected to be completed by August, 1980.
