NRC IE BULLETIN NO. 79-17, REVISION 1 NO. 1 UNIT SALEM GENERATING STATION In response to your lette~ of October 29, 1979, transmitting NRC IE Bulletin 79-17, Revision 1, which was received on November 5, 1979, the following information is submitted for your review.
In our response to NRC IE Bulletin 79-17 dated August 24, 1979, our de-finition of **stagnant oxygenated borated water systems
differed from the definition in NRC IE Bulletin 79-17, Revision 1.
A review of pertinent systems utilizing the definition provided in Bulletin 79-17, Revision 1 is in progress.
Also, as required in I.terns 5 and 2 (b) of the Bulletin, an inspection program and schedule is being prepared.
In view of the anticipated expanded scope of the program based on the new definition and the criteria to be used in determining the inspection sample, additional response time is required.
The results of our review and a schedule of our inspection plans will be submitted in a supplemental response to Bulletin 79-17 by January 1, 1980.
