20555 Attention:

Mr. Albert Schwencer, Chief Operating Reactors Branch #1 Division of Operating Reactors Gentlemen:

REQUEST FOR AMENDMENT FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE DPR-70 UNIT NO. 1 SALEM GENERATING STATION DOCKET NO. 50-272 Ref. 79-01 In accordance with the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended and the regulations thereunder, we hereby transmit copies of our request for amendment and our analysis of the changes to Facility Operating License DPR-70 for Salem Generating Station, Unit No. 1.

This request consists of a proposed change to the Safety Tech-nical Specifications to incorporate the requirements of 10 CFR50, Appendix I, for radiological effluents.

The Off-site Dose Calculation Manual (ODCM) is included in this transmittal for review in conjunction with the license change request.

The Process Control Program (PCP) I which was also requested to be transmitted at this time, will be delayed due to the recent (November 1, 1979) changes in criteria imposed upon radwaste shipments to the Barnwell, s.c. burial site.

Because of these more stringent criteria, we are working with our waste disposal contractor to make the appropriate changes to the procedures and equipment necessary to comply.

It is our inten-tion to submit the PCP under separate cover as soon as it is possible to have the PCP reflect the new procedures and equipment.

Until that time, the shipment of demineralizer resins used in
