No additional action is deemed necessary.
A current set of requirements, placed on the waste burial firm by the State of South Carolina, is maintained on-site at Salem and in the corporate office.
No additional action is deemed necessary.
Although departmental assignments of responsibility for qualified personnel involved in radwaste currently exist; the *management of Salem will specifically designate, in writing the people in the organization.who are responsible for the safe transfer, packaging, and transport of low-level radioactive *material by January 1, 1980.
All radioactive waste operations currently being performed at Salem are *performed in accordance*
with management approved, detailed instructions.
Additional procedures or instructions will be de-veloped as necessary due to changes* in processing methods or equipment.

Training and retraining of employees who operate processes which *generate waste,* to assure.that the volume of low-level radioactive waste is minimized and to assure *that proper processing of such waste is accomplished, will be included in the program and schedule specified in response to item 5, above.

PSE&G currently has an NRC approved quality as-surance program, including audits of certain por-tions of the radioactive*waste managerrierit.
Pro-cedures to cover any remaining portions of the radwaste management program will be prepared as necessary.
A management-controlled audit of the activities described, will be conducted within 60 days of August 10,. 1979, and records will be maintained and available for future 'inspection by NRC or DOT.
Questions l and 2 This information is reported in accordance with Technical Specifications on a semi-annual basis.
Question 3 Salem Unit 1 generated liquid low-level radio-active waste during the period described. _This waste *was processed by filtration and deminer-alization and the filters and resins shipped in dewatered form.
