NRC IE BULLETINS NO. 79-01 AND 79-0lA NO. 1 UNIT SALEM GENERATING STATION SUPPLEMENTAL RESPONSE Pursuant to our initial response dated March 6, 1979 and our supplemental response of June 15, 1979 on IE Bulletin No. 79-01, the following additional supple-mental information is hereby submitted:
As indicated in our response of June 15, 1979 equipment environmental qualification is being addressed during the Salem Unit #2 reviews.
Accordingly, Table Q7.30, "Inside Containment Safety-Related Equipment" has been updated to include recent tests that have been completed on electrical cable qualification.
Additionally, Table Q7.30 has been expanded to include cable types, manufacturer and associated qualif i9ation documentation for electrical cables.
Attached is a copy of Table Q7.30 incorporating this additional information; additional information, which is applicable to both Salem units.

- All vital cables inside containment have been qualified to at least 271°F and 2 x 108 rads at 43~2 psig for LOCA environment.
- Thermal analysis have been performed using the same model as VEPCO, which has previously been accepted by the staff.
Results of this analysis show that the peak surface temperature of the worst case cable type is 333°F.
Identical cables, irradiated with a total dosage in excess of that encountered in a MSLB have successfully passed tests at 34QOp for= 3 hours3.472222e-5 days <br />8.333333e-4 hours <br />4.960317e-6 weeks <br />1.1415e-6 months <br />.
