Apri1 10~ 1979. advisinq of a report-able occurrence in accordance with Techni.ca1 Specifications 6.9~i-s. There appears to be a desiqn deficiency asgociated with the seis:m~c qua1.if.ications for the 4 kV vita1 bu.sswi.tchgear di.f.fe.rential rel.ay protection. Under certain condit:i.ons Ciif the des.i9n basi.s earthquake,. the vital bus d:if:ferential rel.ay(s) may operate, thereby isol.ating one or more of the vit:a1 busses from oilf:si.t:e po---o11er and the $<1-fequards diese1 generators. The Engineering and Construction Depar~ent is current1y evaluating a ~t sol.ution which wil1 be accmpl.ished via a design change request~ An.binediate so1ution wi11 Iba accomplished with ocn-523 to di~ect the trip contacts of the !P~s diff~rential re1ays from their ~ti.vie multit:.rips.
