The Williams Well is identified as USGS NWIS well named USGS 343825086431401 MT-122 Williams Well-City of Huntsville, located at Latitude 34.64027778 Longitude -

86.72055556.

The pumping rate capacity of the well is 4.5 MGD.

The well is used for emergencies. It is kept active and is tested, but is not operated regularly. It has been run once in the last two or three years.

The wellhead protection area for the Williams Well extends about 16 miles to the northeast of the well in a straight line from the well to the intersection of I-565 and Research Park Blvd (Hwy 255). At a distance about 2 miles from the well the wellhead protection area is about 6 miles wide, spaced equally 3 miles to each side. The boundary of the wellhead protection area (closest to the Redstone alternative site) extends from the well to the intersection of Martin Rd and Anderson Rd.
