Dear Mr. Palmisano:

On March 14, 1997; NRC Region Ill management and staff completed. the semiannual Plant Performance Review (PPR) of Palisades. The Region conducts these reviews for a.II operating nuclear power plant$ to develop an integrated understanding of ~fety.

  • performance. The results are used by regional management to facilitate planning and allocation of inspection resources.

The PPR for Palisades involved the participation of all Region Ill technical divisions as well as responsible NRR staff, in evaluating inspection results and safety performance information for the period from October 1996 through March 1997. PPRs provide.regional management with a current summary of licensee performance and serve as inputs to the
