REQUEST FOR LIBRARY TO MAINTAIN COPY OF HOLTEC INTERNATIONALS APPLICATION FOR THE HI-STORE CONSOLIDATED INTERIM STORAGE FACILITY ENVIRONMENTAL REPORT (DOCKET NUMBER: 72-1051)

Dear Ms. Farrell:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) received a license application from Holtec International (Holtec) to construct and operate a consolidated interim storage facility for spent nuclear fuel at the Holtec site in Lea County, New Mexico. We are reaching out to the Hobbs Public Library to request its assistance in establishing an information repository and maintaining reference documents at the library. The documents are associated with the NRCs environmental review of the Holtec HI-STORE license application.

As part of the review of Holtecs request, the NRC staff will make available to the public various documents regarding the project and the NRC staffs review process. This letter transmits a hard copy of the environmental report and a DVD containing electronic files for Revisions 0, 0A and 1 of the Environmental Report. Electronic versions of these documents and the entire application are available in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS), accessible via the internet at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html using the ADAMS Accession Numbers listed in the attachment. In addition, application materials may be accessed at the NRC webpage:

https://www.nrc.gov/waste/spent-fuel-storage/cis/holtec-international.html.

We are kindly requesting that copies of all documents on file be kept at the library for a period of three (3) years, if possible, for the publics use. Additional documents will be sent to you as they become available.

S. Farrell 2 We appreciate your willingness to assist the public in participating in the NRCs environmental review process. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Jill Caverly at 301-415-7674, or via e-mail at Jill.Caverly@nrc.gov.
