UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D.C. 20555-0001 The Honorable Elizabeth Warren United States Senate Washington, DC 20515
Dear Senator Warren:
March 19, 2018 On behalf of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), I am responding to the February 12, 2018, letter from you and your colleagues regarding safety concerns at Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station (Pilgrim). Responses to your specific questions are enclosed.
The NRC continues to dedicate significant management attention and inspection resources to Pilgrim to ensure Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc., operates the plant safely. This includes an inspection plan for Pilgrim that is commensurate with its performance as a Column 4 plant under the NRC's Reactor Oversight Process Action Matrix, specifically focusing on the plant's corrective actions and its efforts to demonstrate sustained improvement.
If you need any additional information, please contact me or have your staff contact Eugene Dacus, Director of the Office of Congressional Affairs, at (301) 415-1776.
