Dear Mr. Palmisano:

On October 23, 1997, NRC Region Ill management and staff completed the semiannual Plant Performance Review (PPR) of Palisades. The Region conducts these reviews for all operating nuclear power plants to develop an integrated understanding of safety performance. The results are used by regional management to facilitate planning and allocation of inspection resources.

The PPR for Palisades involved the participation of all Region Ill technical.divisions as well as responsible NRR staff, in *evaluating inspection results and safety performance information for the period from March through September 1997. PP Rs provide regional managemen,t. With, a* **.
