TOPICAL REPORT ON THE USE OF THE MCBEND CODE FOR THE CALCULATION OF NEUTRON FLUENCES IN THE PRESSURE VESSELS OF LWRS In our Updated Fluence Submittal letter, dated April 4, 1996, Consumers Power Company (CPCo) provided the updated fluence evaluation. This evaluation was based on the current, NRC approved, discrete ordinate transport theory (DORT) code used by Westinghouse. In our evaluation, a Monte Carlo code, MCBEND9A, was used to provide an independent verification of the Westinghouse results.
- The attached report entitled, "Topical Report on the Use of the MCBEND Code for the Calculation of Neutron Fluences in the Pressure Vessels of LWRs," has been prepared for review and acceptance under the NRC licensing topical report program.
The NRC is requested to review this report and provide approval for the use of MCBEND9A code for the calculation of neutron fluences in the pressure vessels of LWRs.
This submittal is not in support of our Updated Fluence Submittal. It is submitted to support any future use of MCBEND9A for the calculation of neutron fluences in pressure vessels.
