FORT CALHOUN STATION, UNIT 1 - CHANGE IN U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION STAFF PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Dear Sir or Madam:
On April 1, 2018, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff project management for your facility will transfer from the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, Division of Operating Reactor Licensing, Special Projects and Process Branch, to the Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards (NMSS), Division of Decommissioning, Uranium Recovery, and Waste Programs (DUWP). This transfer is in accordance with internal NRC office interface agreements and is based on the completion of certain licensing actions that establish a licensing and safety basis reflecting the permanently shutdown and defueled condition of your facility. This change in regulatory oversight will enhance NRC processing of any decommissioning-related licensing actions that you may elect to submit and it will secure NMSS experience and expertise in the evaluation of any future dismantlement, decontamination, spent fuel storage, reactor vessel transportation, and license termination activities.
Mr. Jack D. Parrott, NMSS/DUWP, has been assigned as your new Project Manager and will relieve Mr. James Kim of his duties effective April 1, 2018. Mr. Parrott can be reached at (301) 415-6634.
