PALISADES PLANT - SAFETY EVALUATION AND REVIEW OF RESPONSES TO NRC SAFETY EVALUATION ACTION ITEMS AND REVISED RELIEF REQUESTS FOR THE INSERVICE TESTING PROGRAM (TAC NO. M85695)
Dear Mr. Haas:
Consumers Power Company (CPCo) responded to the NRC's safety evaluation (SE) dated July 15, 1992, for the Palisades Nuclear Plant Inservice Testing (IST)
Program in letters dated December 29, 1992, and October 4, 1993.
The responses included a description of the actions taken for each of the items identified in the SE.
Revised relief requests were also included.
The enclosed SE provides the results of the staff review of the new or revised relief requests based on actions taken by CPCo.
While certain requests were determined to be unacceptable, no further NRC review is considered necessary for the second 10-year interval program relief requests.
CPCo should review the staff's evaluations of the relief requests and the comments on further actions given in the summaries of your action (Table 1 and Table 2 of the enclosed SE) and make appropriate changes in the IST program developed for the third 10-year interval beginning in May 1995.
This SE completes the technical review for TAC No. M85695.
