. *with respect to.Ms~ Carey's concern about the lqcal public document room (1PDR), the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) relocated.the Palisades LPDR from the Kalamazoo Public Library (KPL) to Hope*.college; Holland, Mkhigan, in J~ne 1985.
KPL asked the NRC to mo.ve the Palisades L.PDR
- e 1 sewhere because the 1.i brary 1 acked adequate.space and supporting staff.
We
- seJected the Hope College. llbrary because of its.availabTe space, staff, and
" extended -hours of operati.on_.
While.the NRC has historically tried to locate
~PDRs* as near to.the plant site as -possible', there is no requirem_ent that an kPDR. be_'lo~~ted withiri*39.miles of the nucle~r*~oweF plant'.*
