OF AUGUST 18 AND 19, 1992 Members of the NRC staff met with Mr. Barry Young of Cons.umers* Power Comp.af}Y*

on.August 18 and 19, 1992, for the purpose of informal, worki~g level*

discussions.

The objective of the meeting was twofold:., (1) *~o facilitate.the**

staff review of license amendment requests for the shutdown cp'oling* sy*stem and the instrumentation and control system and (2) to djscuss NRC siaff phil~sophy on improved standard technical specifications (STS):, A list' of.attendees is enclosed.

licensee provide the inform~tion on the docket for evaluatio~. *Mr. Young al.so provided a.detailed explanation of proposed revisions to.the instrumentatfon and control section of the TS.

. their possible imple~entation by the licen~ee. Mr. Young stated that the unique design of Palis~des would require deviations from the.st~ndard and some

• con~ideration would be given as to whether Palisades should ~dopt the improved

• stand~rd. The cost of implementing the STS versus improved custom specifications would be a factor to be considered.
