Dear Mr. Slade:
This refers to the visit conducted by Mr. G. L. Pirtle of this off.i~e on August 20, 1992, at: the Pali~ades Nuclear Power Plant, authorized by NRC Operating License No. DPR-20, and t~ discussions with Mr. J. Warner and other members of your staff during the visit.
The purpose of the visit was to discuss planned security measures for
- protection of the Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation. A formal review of the proposals wi.11 be completed when the appropriate documents are submitted for NRC review.
It is our understanding that the appropriate documents for review will be submitted to the NRC by September 30, 1992.
This *visit was not an inspection to determine adequacy of existing security measure~ or to determine compliance with existing commitments.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter will be pl~ced in the NRC_Public Document Room.
We will gladly discuss any questions you may have concerning this visit.
