CHANGE OF COMMITMENT GB Slade General Manager The purpose of this letter is to inform the NRC of Consumers Power Company's intention to discontinue its subscription to the Nuclear Operations and Maintenance Information System (NOMIS). In our response, dated December 1, 1986, to the NRC's May 21, 1986 confirmatory action letter, we committed to maintain a membership in NOMIS. This commitment was made due to the perception that plant personnel lacked experience and did not have or did not know how to utilize industry contacts. Since the time of this commitment we have subscribed to NOMIS as well as INPO's Nuclear Network system.
We have recently reviewed the necessity of subscribing to both services and concluded that it is in the Plant's best interest to continue our subscription to INPO's Nuclear Network. Nuclear Network provides access to information on all the US nuclear utilities whereas NOMIS is currently limited to forty subscribers.
Therefore, beginning January 1, 1992 we will discontinue our subscription to NOMIS.
