NOTIFICATION OF DELAY IN SUBMITTAL OF ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR INSPECTION REPORT 89-007 At the request of NRC Region III personnel, a telephone conference call was held between NRC and Consumers Power Company personnel on November 2, 1989 to discuss Consumers Power Company's submittal of August 10, 1989 related to the NRC Engineering Team Inspection.

During the call, Region III personnel indicated that the NRC had completed their review of our submittal entitled "Response to Inspection Report 89007 Notice of Violation", and that further information was required to complete our response to the Inspection Report.

In response, Consumers Power Company committed to submit such information by November 30, 1989.

The purpose of this letter is to notify NRC that the requested information will be provided at a later date.

Since making our original commitment to provide the requested information by November 30, 1989, significant emergent engineering work has been identified.

This emergent work consisted partly of responses to recent NRC inspections and audits involving sampling and.evaluating safety-related piping support capability and developing a long-term IE Bulletin 79-02 and 79-14 reverification program.

The balance of our emergent work consisted of diagnosis of recent pressurizer power operated relief valve response as observed during the recent Plant approach to power operation.

As a result, submittal of the information requested by the NRC relative to our August 10, 1989 letter will be rescheduled from November 30 to December 18, 1989.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter:
