NRC BRIEFING OF INADVERTENT PORV OPERATION EVENT Kenneth W Berry Director Nuclear Licensing During hot functional testing, near the end of the current maintenance outage, Palisades experienced an inadvertent PORV operation event.
Subsequent discus-sion with NRC Region III Management has resulted in Consumers Power Company agreeing to fully brief appropriate NRC Management of our diagnosis of and corrective actions for the event prior to plant startup. This submittal provides confirmation of this commitment. *we are continuing to gather inform-ation; to perform evaluations, and to analyze the data, such that a full understanding of the event is assured.
Consumers Power Company will coordinate the schedule and briefing format with the appropriate Region III staff after we have gained ~omplete understanding of the event.
