ADDITIONAL FIRE PROTECTION COMPLIANCE INFORMATION -
10CFRSO APPENDIX R Consumers Power Company letter dated October 14, 1986 stated that written analyses of the need for powered HVAC in rooms containing essential post fire safe shutdown equipment would be completed by July 1, 1987.
This item was also made a matter of record as Open Item 255/86022-01 in the November 14, 1986 NRC inspection report concerning Appendix R compliance at Palisades*.
At the time the July 1, 1987 completion date was established, power operation was planned to start at Palisades before the end of 1986.
As the result of subsequent investigations by Consumers Power Company and NRC task forces and inspection teams, other matters not related to Appendix R delayed power operation until May 1987.
The analyses and necessary corrective action to resolve those other matters used resources originally, schedul~d to perform analyses regarding the need for powered HVAC during post fire safe shutdown.
Therefore, Consumers P.ower Company has rescheduled the completion date of the HVAC analyses to December 1, 1987.
