CORRECTION TO UPDATED PLANS FOR PROVIDING FUEL ASSEMBLY GRID QUALIFICATION Consumers Power Company's letter of May 14, 1986, stated we would submit an exemption request to General Design Criterion (GDC) 4 - Environmental and Missile Design Basis for the Palisades Plant.
This is an incorrect statement of our position.
Following the issuance of the revised GDC-4 on April 21, 1986, the Consumers Power position should have been stated as follows:
Analyses will be conducted in an attempt to demonstrate that the probability of rupturing primary coolant loop piping is extremely low under design basis conditions.
Consumers Power is working expeditiously to conduct such analyses, and they will be submitted as soon as practical.
These analyses, in conjunction with the revised GDC-4, will exclude from design basis consideration the dynamic effects associated with postulated pipe ruptures in the primary coolant loop piping at the Palisades Plant.
Therefore, no exemption request to the GDC-4 is necessary.
