UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION CHARTER FOR THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON MEDICAL USES OF ISOTOPES

1. Committee's Official Designation

Advisory Committee on the Medical Uses of Isotopes

2. Authority Established Pursuant to Section 9 of Public Law 92-463 as an NRC discretionary committee.
3. Committee's objectives, scope of activities and duties are as follows:

The Committee provides advice, as requested by the Director, Division of Materials Safety, Security, State, and Tribal Programs (MSST), Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards (NMSS), on policy and technical issues that arise in regulating the medical use of byproduct material for diagnosis and therapy. The Committee may provide consulting services as requested by the Director, MSST. . 4. Official to whom this Committee reports:

5. Agency responsible for providing necessary support to this Committee:

U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

6. Estimated Annual Operating Costs and Staff Years Approximately 13 members utilize 2.23 FTE (includes approximately 1.39 FTE for NRC staff and 0.84 FTE for ACMUI member compensation and travel) and $374,000. . 7. Designated Federal Officer:

A full time NRC employee from the Division of Materials Safety, Security, State, and Tribal Programs will serve as the Designated Federal Officer.

8. Estimated number of meetings per year:

Five meetings per year, three of which are teleconferences.

9. Duration:

Continuing Committee

10. The Committee's termination date.

Continuing Committee subject to Charter renewal in March 2020.

11. Membership and Designation:

Members are appointed by the Director, NMSS as Special Government Employees. The membership includes health care professionals of diverse specialties who represent diagnostic and therapeutic applications of medicine, medical adminis tration, and patient care advocacy.

12. Subcommittees:

The Committee does not have standing subcommittees; if ad hoc subcommittees are used, they would report to the full Committee.

13. Recordkeeping:

The Committee records will be handled in accordance with General Records Schedule 6.2 and approved NRC records disposition schedules. These records shall be available for public inspection and copying, subject to the Freedom of Information Act, 5 U.S.C.
