DeWitt Vice President Nuclear Operations I would like. to take this opportunity to inform you of the "arious organiza-tional changes we are making in the Nuclear Operations Department at Consumers Power Company in order to assure the continued good regulatory performance. of our nuclear plants.
With this in mind,.we have made the following changes. Mr.
Robert Montross, presently General Manager of our Palisades Plant will be leaving this position on November 1, 1984 to take up new duties as a Consumers Power representative at the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO).
His experience as the General Manager of an operating nuclear power plant as well as his dedication to improving the regulatory*performance at our Palisades*
Plant are asset~ which will not only assist him in his position at INPO but wi~l provide added insight in the actual plant operatin~ experience field for INPO.
He will start this phase of his career January. 1, 1985.
The new G~neral Manager of the Palisades Plant will be Joseph F Firlit assisted by James G Lewis.
This "team" will assure that our commitment to excellence will continue when they assume their new duties on November 1, 1984.
Mr Firlit has been with Consumers Power since. 1965 and has demonstrated that his administrative and managerial skills are excellent and will stand him in good stead as the General Manager of Palisades.
His experiences include being Director of Energy Supply Management and Budget, Director of Quality Assurance and Gen.er.al Manager at the Midland Plant.
Mr Lewis has been with Consumers Power since 1962 and has spent the ensuing years in the nuclear operating department*with ever-increasing responsibilities including operating experience at both Big Rock Point Plant and the Palisades Plant.
He has held
$enior Operating Licenses on both these plants and in' addition to being the manager of the Palisades Plant, he has been in charge of the TMI changes and other backfits/modifications to the Palisades Plant.

In Mr Firlit's absence, Mr Lewis will be the Acting General Manager.
I feel that these changes will prove to be very beneficial for the operation of the Palisades Plant and will result in a continuing improvement in our regulatory performance and an increase in the reliability of the plant.
