SEP TOPIC III-5.A (NUREG-0820 SECTION 4.9) PROPOSED CORRECTIVE MEASURES FOR TWO POSTULATED PIPE BREAK LOCATIONS NRC letter dated June 22, 1983, requested Consumers Power Company to propose corrective measures to insure that steam generator pressure and level instruments lines and pressurizer pressure and level instrument.lines are not damaged in the event of a pipe break occurring in the charging line or the letdown line.
A walkdown inside containment near the postulated break area has been conducted.
It has been determined, by Consumers Power Company, that the instrument lines can be adequately shielded to provide the necessary protection in the event of a pipe break.
It is proposed that the design and installation of the shields around the instrument lines of concern will be completed during the next Palisades Refueling Outage currently scheduled for 1985.
