K. 3. 5 "Automatic Trip of Reactor Coolant Pumps" requested the evaluation of reactor coolant pump trip in accordance with the guidance provided in the enclosure to the referenced letter.
The Combustion Engineering Owner's Group, of which Consumers Power Company is a member, has under development a program for resolution of TMI Action Plan II.K.3.5 "Automatic Trip of Reactor Coolant Pump."
The goal of this program will be to develop a water coolant pump operational strategy which meets the NRC guidance of Generic Letter 83-lOb and the operational requirements of the participating utilities.
Although it is very early in the development of the program, it is our intent to submit a description of the program to address NRC Generic Letter 83-lOb and a program schedule by July 1, 1983.
