STATUS OF THE REGULATORY PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (RPlP) - PLANNING AND SCHEDULING ACTIVITIES Consumers Power Company letter dated December 17, 1982 provided the status of the Palisades Regulatory P'erformance Improvement Program (RPIP) including a commitment to provide the NRC with a report on additional planning and scheduling activities at the Palisades Plant during February 1983.
The following information is provided in fulfillment of that commitment.
The Palisades Plant Planning and Scheduling Department schedules daily maintenance and preventative maintenance activities during power operation.
These activities are scheduled manually on a shift, daily and weekly basis.
Plant Administrative Procedures which identify and control this scheduling process have been developed and issued.
All periodic activities have been incorporated into the computerized scheduling tool, Project 2.
Project 2 is then used to produce the Periodic Activity Control Sheet (PACS) required to ensure the performance of certain activities. Project 2 is also used as a "tickler" system, providing a two-week advance notification of required periodic activities.
Scheduling of Technical Specifications Surveillance tests is performed manually by the Technical Department.
After investigation, Plant management determined that this method of scheduling required Surveillance tests ensures

that this activity receives the proper level of attention and review by Plant management as well as those who perform/verify the tests. Accordingly, there are no plans for the Planning and Scheduling Department to assume this responsibility.
