SEP TOPIC VIII-3.A "STATION BATTERY CAPACITY TEST REQUIREMENTS" -
COMMITMENT TO SUBMIT CHANGES TO TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS The purpose of this letter is to formally document a telephone conversation conducted on February 8, 1983 in which Consumers Power Company informed the NRC staff of its plans to submit a change to Technical Specifications regarding testing of the station batteries.
As indicated during the telephone conversation, Consumers Power Company plans to modify the Palisades Plant Technical Specifications to include requirements for periodic station battery service and performance (discharge) tests.
Consumers Power Company plans to submit the change by March 15, 1983.
The aforementioned plans to change Technical Specifications represent, in part, Consumers Power Company's response to a May 22, 1981 NRC staff safety evaluation of SEP Topic VIII-3.A.
In the evaluation the NRC noted that Palisades Plant does not conform to current licensing requirements since the
. existing Technical Specifications do not require periodic station battery service and discharge tests.
