- 1983 Dennis M Crutchfield, Chief Operating Reactor Branch No 5 Nuclear Reactor Regulation US Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 DOCKET 50-255 - LICENSE DPR PALISADES PLANT - NUREG-0737 ITEM II. F.1.1 "NOBLE GAS EFFLUENT MONITOR" UPDATE Consumers Power Company letter dated September 28, 1981 indicated that in conjunction with NUREG-0737 item Il.F.1.1, Noble Gas Effluent Monitor, the ventilation system modifications for monitoring of potential airborne radioactivity from the penetration and for rooms ventilation system was expected to be completed by January 1, 1983.
This modification entailed rerouting V-79 exhaust system to the main stack plenum.
Due to High Energy Line Break considerations in this room and main stack system having been found more complicated and costly than expected, Consumers Power Company is pursuing the alternative of automatic isolation of the V-79 exhaust system when radiation is detected.
The completion of this alternate modification is expected by the end of the refueling outage now scheduled to begin October 1983.
Until completion, Consumers Power Company will continue use of the existing temporary exhaust monitor and post-accident procedures to prevent inadvertent releases to the atmosphere.
