SEP TOPIC III-7.B, "DESIGN CODES, DESIGN CRITERIA AND LOAD COMBINATIONS" -

ACTION PLAN AND SCHEDULE TO ADDRESS ONE REMAINING OPEN ITEM By letter dated October 8, 1982, Consumers Power Company committed to provide the NRC with an action plan and schedule to resolve one remaining open item pertaining to SEP Topic III-7.B, "Design Codes, Design Criteria and Load Combinations" for the Palisades Plant.

Consumers Power Company has reviewed this open item on steel embedments and will conduct extensive re-evaluations using available engineering documents.

It is expected that this work will be completed and submitted to the NRC by February 28, 1983.

Consumers Power Company would like to take this opportunity to make a correction to our October 8, 1982 submittal.

In that submittal, we indicated in item C-8, page 8 of the attachment to the letter, that "No precast concrete structural elements were used as part of any safety-related structures.

Therefore, this provision does not apply to the Palisades Plant."

Consumers Power Company has determined that this response is inappropriate, and would like, therefore, to revise it to state as follows:

"At the Palisades Plant, there are limited structural elements that are subjected to direct shear.

A sample evaluation of such a bracket to ACl 349-80, section 11.7, shows that there is adequate reinforcement."
