Regulation (NRR) has published its Draft Integrated Plant Safety Assess-ment Report related to the Consumers Power Company's Palisades Plant in Covert, Van Buren County, Michigan.
The report documents the review completed under the Systematic Evaluation Program (SEP).
The SEP was initiated by the NRC to review.
the design of older operating nuclear reactor plants to reconfi.rm and*
document their safety. The review has provided for (1) an assess~ent I
of the significance of differences between current technical positions on safety issues and those that existed when the Palisades Plant was licensed, (2) a basis**for deciding on how these differences should be* resolved in an integrated* plant review, and (3) a documented e~al-uation of p_l ant safety. Equipment and procedura 1 changes have been identified as a result of the review. It is expected.that ihis report will be one.. of the bases in considering the conversion of Paiisades' provisional operating license to a full-term operating license.*
