FOLLOWUP TO MARCH 9, 1981 The provisions of the March 9, 1981 Confirming Order identifying Consumers Power Company actions to upgrade reguiatory performance require *the licensee to conduct an audit of plant operations daily by a corporate management representative.. Since the issuance of the Confirming Order, Consumers Power Company has failed to perform a daily audit by corporate management on several occasions due to severe weather conditions which made automobile travel to the Palisades Plant extremely hazardous.
The most recent instances of failure to perform the required audit occurred on January 16 and February 1, 1982.
Verbal notification to members of your staff were made immediately following each of these occurrences.
Resolution of this problem has been discussed with members of your staff.
It has been agreed that the daily audit need not be performed on days when automobile travel is hazardous (i.e. the State Police have recommended that highway travel be avoided except when absolutely necessary).
When this does occur, the audit of plant activities for the day that was missed will be performed during the next scheduled daily audit.
I will assume that the resolution of this problem as described above is acceptable to you, unless you notify me to the contrary.
