consumers Power company General Offices: 212 West Michigan Avenue, Jackson, Ml 49201 * (517) 788-0550 November 20, 1981 Director, Nuclear Reactor Regulation Att Mr Dennis M Crutchfield, Chief Operating Reactors Branch No 5 US Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 DOCKET 50-255 - LICENSE DPR '
PALISADES PLANT -NUREG-0737, ITEMS IIF.1.1, IIF.1.2, IIF.1.3 and IIF.1.6 UPDATE NRC letter dated October 20, 1981, requested Consumers Power Company to formally notify the NRC staff if the implementation date of January 1, 1982 was to be extended for NUREG-0737 items IIF.1.1 and IIF.l.2.
Consumers Power Company letter dated September 28, 1981 and entitled Update of Response to NUREG-0737, Clarification of TMI Action Plan Requirements, identified a delay in the implementation date from January 1, 1982 to March 31, 1982 for NUREG-0737 items IIF.l.l, Noble Gas Effluent Monitor and IIF.1.2, Sampling and Analysis of Plant Effluents.
These items are now projected to be completely installed by April 30, 1982.
In addition to NUREG-0737 items IIF.1.1 and IIF.l.2, Consumers Power Company is identifying by this letter a delay in the implementation dates for NUREG-0737 it.ems IIF.1.3 and IIF.1.6.
NUnEG-0737 item *IIF.1.3 - Containment High-Range Radiation Monitor, and NUREG-0737 item IIF.1.6 - Containment Hydr9gen Monitor will be installed by April 30, 1982.
In all cases for the NUREG-0737 items previously identified, the engineering work, and all construction work which could be accomplished before actual hardware installa-tion, have been completed.
Consumers Power Company has worked closely with the equipment vendor to try and expedite the procurement of hardware but due to delivery uncertainty, this situation that necessitated the delay in installation of the four identified NUREG-0737 items has become evident.
