consumers Power company General Offices: 212 West Michigan Avenue, Jackson, Michigan 49201 * (517) 788-0550 March 30, 1981 Mr James G Keppler Office of Inspection and Enforcement Region III US Nuclear Regulatory Commission 799 Roosevelt Road Glen Ellyn, IL 60137 DOCKET 50-255 - LICENSE DPR PALISADES PLANT - ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR IE BULLETIN 80 ENGINEERED SAFETY FEATURES RESET CONTROLS IE Bulletin 80-06, dated March 13, 1980 requested Consumers Power Company to determine if all associated safety-related equipment remains in its safety-related mode upon the reset of the emergency safety features actuation signal (ESFAS).
Our response to the subject IE Bulletin was submitted to you on June 23, 1980.
Your review of that submittal generated some comments which were discussed in a telephone conference call on March 2, 1981 between Messrs D Hackett (EG&G NRC consultant), P Bender (NRC), T Wambach (NRC), and Messrs SR Frost (CPCo),
B D Johnson (CPCo), MR Wade (CPCo) and KA Toner (CPCo).
At the conclusion of that conversation, the NRC representatives requested that ~~ submit more information on what safety-related equipment was tested and what was not.
On the safety-related equipment that has not been tested we were to provide a schedule as to when this equipment will be tested. is a table of verification of status of ESF equipment after manual reset of the ESFAS.
This table identifies the initating relay and contact, component actuated by initial relay, and mode verified by test data.
The ESF equipment that has not been tested to date, will be tested curing the next Palisades Plant refueling outage.
