With the increase in the amount of disc crack indications observed in the
\\lestinghouse. turbine systems, the NRC requested (letter dated February 25, 1980) information to be provided on site specific as well as on a generic basis.
This information for Consumers Power Company's Palisades Plant was submitted to the NRC on March 21, 1980.
Westinghouse Electric Corporation transmitted to us (letter dated December 17, 1980) new information on turbine disc properties.
This information differs from the previously supplied informa~ion in that a more sophisticated calcula-tional mociel which accounts for thermal and steam bending stresses is now used.
As a result of a meeting between Messrs J Schmerling of Westinghouse., W J Ross, W S Hazelton and others of the NRC staff on October 7, 1980, it was agreed that the attached information be resubmitted.
The attached turbine disc information (Appendix A) contains proprietary infor-mation of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation.
A nonproprietary version is also provided.
Copies cf the previously submitted Application for Withholding AW-80-(6) da-i:ed March 14, 1980 and the associated affidavit are attached (Appendix B) and are equaliy applicable to th.is new material.
Accordingly, it:
is requested that the subject Westinghouse proprietary lnformation be withheld f:;:-om public disclosure in accordance w:i.th the provisions of 10 CFR 2. 790 of the Commission's regulations.
